My Walk Through the Book of Mark by Annette Godtland

Jesus Appears to Two Disciples (Mark 16:12-13)

12After that, He appeared in another form to two of them as they walked and went into the country. 13And they went and told it to the rest, but they did not believe them either.

It is amazing how many different witnesses can come and tell the same story and still the story is not believed. Keep that in mind when you try to tell someone the good news and their pain and sorrow are keeping them from believing you. The important thing is that you tell them what you know.

I have often thought about the fact that God gave us freedom of choice. That freedom of choice seems to be more of a burden than a help. It's that freedom of choice that gets us into more trouble than anything else. But that freedom of choice doesn't just apply to whether we decide to be good or bad. We have also been given the freedom of choice to believe or not believe. God doesn't force that decision on us. When we doubt, He doesn't use His almighty power to convince us otherwise. He could if He wanted to, He knows what it would take to convince us, He has the ability to perform any miracle. But He leaves it our choice to believe or not believe. Hopefully we can do better than these disciples as we struggle with what to believe.
